Objectives:
UniAdrion Summer School on Sustainable Tourism aims at introducing students to the concept of sustainability and sustainable development in the tourism and hospitality sectors. The course meets the increasing demand for the use of creativity and innovation to address development challenges and reach the SDGs goals. Students will develop the ability to critically evaluate the impacts of tourism development on the Adriatic-Ionian Region natural resources and the local community. The natural and cultural environments of communities and destinations will be explored to enable students to critically interpret the changes and development of domestic and international tourism policy and train them on possible solutions to overcome crises.
Participants:
The school is targeted to 30 young people (students, young graduates and young officers) interested in or operating with the topic of sustainable tourism, with a background on marketing and tourism. Priority will be given to students coming from universities belonging to the UniAdrion association and to students/young officers coming from the countries covered by EUSAIR (Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Greece, Italy, Montenegro, North Macedonia, San Marino, Serbia and Slovenia).
The participants will be selected based on their CVs, their current research and their research/professional interests.
Geographical balance will also be taken into account in the selection process.
Application and deadlines:
The application form can be downloaded from UniAdrion website (www.uniadrion.net) and must be submitted by email to info@uniadrion.net together with the copy of passport/ID document, a detailed CV and a letter of interest. Those who are willing to present their current research or Phd thesis must send also a short abstract (up to 500 words) along with the other documents.
The deadline for submission is July 28, 2022. Applicants are invited to keep strictly to the deadline.
Language:
All the lectures will be delivered in English.
Fees:
For the participants selected for a scholarship (max. 30 scholarships available) registration fees, meals at the University canteen, accommodation at the studentsâ house and cultural activities, will be covered by the AI-NURECC PLUS Project. Scholarship holders will also be granted a pocket money for the travelling expenses.
For the participants without scholarship (max. 10 places available), only the training costs are covered. Any other cost (including travel, accommodation and meals) must be covered by the participant.
Attendance:
Participants are expected to attend the school full time.
At the end of the school the participants will receive a certificate of attendance issued by UniAdrion and Marche Polytechnic University, specifying the duration of the summer school, the related learning outcomes and 2 ECTS.
Location:
The first week of the school will be online, the second week will take place at the Faculty of Economics âGiorgio Fuà â at Marche Polytechnic University, Ancona – Italy. Further details will be provided to participants in due course.
Cultural and social activities:
During the second week, cultural and social activities will be organized for the participants, including a visit to Regional Park Monte Conero (Ancona â Italy), local best practice of sustainable tourism and social lunch/dinner.
